| Abstract: | This research investigates the efficiency of various machine learning algorithms in analyzing water quality specifically for aquaculture applications. The study is structured around three core objectives: comparing the predictive accuracy of five distinct algorithms Linear Regression, Random Forest, Neural Networks, CNN, and LSTM; identifying the critical water quality parameters that influence optimal farming decisions; and proposing a robust model selection framework for integration into Smart Farm systems. The research methodology employed a synthetic dataset modeled after established water quality criteria for tilapia cage farming. This data was processed using Python, with the dataset partitioned into an 80:20 ratio for training and testing purposes, respectively. The empirical results demonstrate that Random Forest and Gradient Boosting outperformed other models, achieving a peak classification accuracy of 99.98%. While deep learning architectures such as CNN and LSTM provided competitive results, they were characterized by significantly higher computational demands and longer training durations. Furthermore, the Feature Importance analysis highlights that pH levels and Dissolved Oxygen (DO) serve as the most influential factors in the models' decision-making processes, marking them as vital indicators for real-time water quality monitoring in smart aquaculture.
