| Abstract: | This research aims to examine the levels of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding password selection and usage, as well as to compare the differences between early-career personnel and experienced professionals within the Information Technology department of a financial institution. Data was collected from a purposively sampled group of personnel (Purposive Sampling). The research instrument was an online questionnaire developed based on the Knowledge-Attitude-Behavior (KAB) framework and the Human Aspects of Information Security Questionnaire (HAIS-Q). Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics via the Chi-Square Test. The results revealed that the sample exhibited a high level of knowledge regarding password usage and generally held positive attitudes overall. When comparing the age groups, distinct differences were found across the dimensions of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Specifically, although both groups possessed similarly high levels of technical knowledge, the early-career group tended to prioritize convenience, leading to compliance-driven behaviors that merely met the minimum system requirements. In contrast, the experienced personnel demonstrated a higher awareness of business impacts and a stronger sense of ownership. This resulted in proactive behaviors, such as voluntarily creating passwords that are longer and more complex than the minimum requirements, as well as regularly updating their passwords independently. Hypothesis testing indicated that the level of knowledge had no direct significant relationship with password usage behaviors, reflecting the "Knowing-Doing Gap" phenomenon. This suggests that the factor of convenience influenced decision-making more heavily than technical knowledge alone. However, the level of attitude was significantly associated with password usage behaviors. Individuals with a high awareness of risks were more likely to exhibit proactive security behaviors, such as enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Furthermore, a significant relationship was found between the level of knowledge and the level of attitude. The findings of this study demonstrate that enhancing cybersecurity within an organization should not solely focus on providing technical knowledge, but must also emphasize cultivating an attitude of shared responsibility. Additionally, integrating technologies that reduce the cognitive burden of memorization without compromising user convenience should be applied in policy design to sustainably promote secure behaviors moving forward.
