Guidelines for food waste management in the automotive industry under the supervision of employees in the establishment

Abstract

Currently, industrial establishments that are involved in food processing have problems with excess food from production, which leads to food waste. According to the report of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, 1 in 3 of the food produced each year becomes food waste due to factors such as excessive food production, transportation, distribution, and consumption, which lead to an increase in excess food.Therefore, this research aims to study the management of food waste according to the attitudes of employees in the automotive parts industry in the EEC area. A questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data from a sample of 201 people. Data analysis used statistics of percentage, mean, standard deviation, analysis of mean differences, one-way variance, and Scheffe's analysis of differences, with statistical significance set at .05The results of the research found that most respondents were male, aged 23-39, in operational positions, had less than 10 years of work experience, and had an average income of more than 15,000-30,000 baht. The duration of the establishment was less than 10 years. The size of the establishment you work for is a small establishment with no more than 50 employees. The environmental management policy is to use complaints from the community regarding environmental impacts to improve and resolve them. In the part of assigning the main environmental responsibility person, which is the environmental manager, the respondents gave importance to the overall picture of avoiding the creation of waste (Reduce), the overall picture of increasing benefits (Reuse), the overall picture of recycling (Recycle), the overall picture of energy conversion (Recover), which was overall at a very important level. For the results of considering each item, the average scores were ranked from highest to lowest.
