Effect of Communication Skill Development for Teamwork Using Board Game–Based Innovation for Employees in Food Service Business Group

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to (1) examine the level of teamwork communication skills among employees in the food service sector and (2) investigate the effects before and after the use of a board game innovation designed to develop teamwork communication skills in this group. The first sample consisted of 313 support staff from companies A and B who work in office environments. The second sample included 12 employees from company A, working in support roles with job grades between 11 and 16, who had teamwork communication skills below the 50th percentile and volunteered to participate in the experiment. The tools used included a teamwork communication skills questionnaire with a reliability of 0.844 and a board game designed to enhance teamwork communication skills, which had a suitability rating of 4.71. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution, percentages, mean, standard deviation, and Paired Sample t-test.The research findings indicated that the overall level of teamwork communication skills among the employees was high (= 4.06, SD = 0.70). Comparisons before and after the use of the board game showed a statistically significant improvement in post-experiment teamwork communication skills ( = 4.09, SD = 0.23) compared to the pre-experiment level (X̄ = 2.96, SD = 0.39) at the .01 level, demonstrating the effectiveness of the developed board game in enhancing teamwork communication skills.

งานวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยกึ่งทดลอง มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) ศึกษาระดับทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อการทำงานเป็นทีมของพนักงานกลุ่มธุรกิจการบริการด้านอาหาร และ (2) ศึกษาผลก่อน และหลังการใช้นวัตกรรมบอร์ดเกมเพื่อพัฒนาทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อการทำงานเป็นทีมของพนักงานกลุ่มธุรกิจการบริการด้านอาหาร กลุ่มตัวอย่างแรกคือ พนักงานกลุ่มธุรกิจการบริการด้านอาหารในส่วนงานสนับสนุนที่ปฏิบัติงานในสำนักงานจากบริษัท A และ B จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 313 คน กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ 2 คือพนักงานกลุ่มธุรกิจการบริการด้านอาหารในส่วนงานสนับสนุนของบริษัท A ทำงานประจำอยู่ในสำนักงาน มีระดับค่างาน (Job Grade) ที่ระดับ 11 – 16 ที่มีระดับทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อการทำงานเป็นทีมต่ำกว่าเปอร์เซ็นต์ไทล์ที่ 50 ลงมา จำนวน 12 คน และสมัครใจเข้าร่วมการทดลอง เครื่องมือที่ใช้คือแบบสอบถามทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อการทำงานเป็นทีมที่มีค่าความเชื่อมั่น 0.844 และบอร์ดเกมเพื่อพัฒนาทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อการทำงานเป็นทีม โดยมีค่าความเหมาะสมในการนำไปใช้เท่ากับ 4.71 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการแจกแจงความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และวิเคราะห์ด้วย Paired Sample t-testผลการวิจัยพบว่าระดับทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อการทำงานเป็นทีมโดยรวมของพนักงานอยู่ในระดับสูง (4.06, SD = 0.70) และเมื่อเปรียบเทียบก่อนและหลังการใช้บอร์ดเกมเพื่อพัฒนาทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อการทำงานเป็นทีม พบว่าระดับทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อการทำงานเป็นทีมหลังการทดลอง (= 4.09, SD = 0.23) มากกว่าระดับทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อการทำงานเป็นทีมโดยรวมระยะก่อนการทดลอง (= 2.96, SD = 0.39) อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .01 ซึ่งแสดงให้เห็นว่าบอร์ดเกมที่ผู้วิจัยได้พัฒนาขึ้นมีประสิทธิภาพในการพัฒนาทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อการทำงานเป็นทีม
